I planned on having hot coffee only to find out I had a doctors appointment which required me to not have any caffeine. I planned on swimming with my kids just before their swimming lessons, but was unable too because my eyes were still in shock from the chlorine in our community pool. I planned on going to the doctors for a stress echo test, but when I arrived I realized I forgot my sneakers and had to reschedule. Today was just one of those days where nothing seemed to be going in the direction I had hoped for. So I'm taking the bull by the horn and I'm not planning anything else today. Instead, I'm just going to hang low until tomorrow comes. Maybe I'll play a game with my kids. But why plan? It doesn't seem to be the theme for today.

Today is a grey fuzzy day,

Many blessings,

Melissa Perry Moraja
www.achievelifebalance.com

Enjoy at least one day out of 365

I'm feeling laid-back and easy going today--its a GREEN day!

When I woke up, I felt as if I didn't have to rush to clean the house, or rush to get a coffee, or rush to turn on the news. Of course, I did have to hurry and get one of my sons ready for Kindergarten (only one day left till summer vacation) and feed Josh and Madison (twins). In the process, I still didn't feel as if I was going 100 miles per hour--my typical day.

It's nice just being. Not worrying. Not contemplating 'what if?' If only all days could be like this. But the energy of the day changes. Growth happens. Opportunities present themselves. And change has an infinite purpose. So as things change, so does the day, our attitudes, our behavior, our focus, and our intentions.

When you have a day like today--just being, remember how it felt because you can have more days in the GREEN!

Live, Laughter, and Love

Melissa
www.achievelifebalance.com

A Gray Day--I'm in a Funk

It's raining outside... temperature isn't that bad, but I definitely woke up on the blue gray side of the bed today. We all have these days. I just feel like I'm in limbo mode. Well, I really am in limbo mode. I just got back from the Book Expo America in NY where I was feeding off of the high energy all around me. It was unbelievably motivating... everyone was in the orange and royal blue--orange is inspiration, creativity, and social while royal blue is communication and trust.

Then when I arrived at home, I was soooo pumped up. I started making calls and sending out emails to everyone I met. And one by one I started to receive rejections. Rejections aren't easy for anyone's self-esteem; but in this industry its expected. So today, after one more rejection just before I went to bed, I woke up on the blue gray side of the bed. I'm even wearing charcoal gray because it fits my mood. BUT... and I have to say BUT... I'm going to enjoy this space I'm in for just another hour or two; and then after I take my kids to dancing, grocery shopping, and picking up a movie, I'm going to come back home and color and listen to some orange music--DISCO to get out of my funk.

I'd love to know how other's get out of their funks.

Do you like the Eagles or Neil Diamond?

What few people consciously realize, is that music can be used to shift your mood. Like color, its a tool that can energize, depress, and lift your spirit!

Lately, I've been forcing myself to listen to what I call "green music". This is the type of music where you can sit on your back porch with a beer in hand, relax, and enjoy the moment. I sometimes refer to it as your acoustic guitar music--Don Henley, The Eagles, Neil Diamond, Little River Band, many country songs, and more. This is your down to earth music. Its music that many people enjoy listening too on long road trips. It balances the soul. Its grounding.

The reason I'm forcing myself to listen to "green music" is because my life is going thru major change--we're closing on a new house in two days and then moving again. With the economy as such, we're feeling the stresses and pressures that everyone else is experiencing. "Green music" will aide me in staying more grounded and balanced during this chaotic time.

I'd love to hear stories of when you find yourself listening to "green music"? Have you found that it helps ground you and bring you back to the present moment?

Light, Love and Laughter

Melissa Moraja
www.achievelifebalance.com
www.melissamoraja.com

The color you have to buy!

Today I went to the mall with my oldest son, Jake. While he and I walked through the slipper section, I remembered I needed a new pair of slippers. I've had these furry azure (blue) colored slippers for over a year now; and they are so ready for the dumpster. They are unsalvagable.

I thought I'd take a quick look through the slippers on display to see if I found any that I liked. I was hoping to find the same color and brand that I currently had--these slippers made me happy! As I browsed through various styles of slippers, one pair immediately caught my eye--it was a pair of pure valentine red furry slip-on slippers. I held my breath as I took the only pair of valentine red slippers off its hook and checked the foot size. It was my size! What are the odds? I asked Jake what he thought and he said, "I like them mommy. Yeah, I do!" I smiled, took his hand, and headed to the register to buy them.

I'm now wearing the slippers as I write this blog. I do like them, but there is still something about them that I'm getting used too. They are much brighter and vibrant than I am used to wearing. They're showy, fun, and wild in a way. This is exactly the type of energy that I need to get me out into the world.

These red slippers symbolize the first step for me to begin speaking and sharing my knowledge, experience, and voice at a greater level. They are the voice that says, "look at me--I'm not going to hide any longer." They are the color, the energy, that says that I am fun, full of life, and ready to take action!

Last week, if you read my blog, I wore the color valentine red hidden under my dark clothes. This week, I'm wearing the color valentine red on my feet. I actually didn't realize the symbolism until I began writing this blog. Valentine red is a color my being is craving. Valentine red is the color of vitality, life, security, action and passion. Ironically, Valentines Day is weeks away giving me the opportunity to purchase many more products in valentines red.

Have you found yourself having to have a product in a certain color and if its not in that color you won't purchase it? Have you ever wondered why?

Today is a Black and Red Day

Do you find when you wake up in the morning some colors within your closet repel you, while other colors draw you in? Everyday, when I begin searching for something to wear, a certain color jumps out from the array of colored clothing hanging in my closet. Its this color that draws me in. Its this color that I typically chose to start my day. Its this color that can tell people alot about my emotional and mental state.

Today, as I was picking out the clothes I wanted to wear, my eyes immediately gravitated towards a rich black cashmere turtleneck sweater hanging snuggly within my closet. Funny, but I don't wear this sweater very often. But today I was drawn to wear it. As I gathered the rest of my clothes to put on, I chose to wear solid valentine red undergarments and khaki green corduroy pants.

The richness of the color black and persuasiveness of the valentine red have something in common. Both are a color that communicates an energy of power and sexiness." However, the two colors are more different than the same. Black is a color that makes a person question who is this mysterious person. It gives off the energy that the person is hiding something or not ready to lay out all their cards. There is a sense of mystery with the color black. Valentine red, on the otherhand, is a color that makes a statement and catches a persons eye. It is vibrant and a color that says, "look at me."

Ironically, today I chose to wear the valentine red color hidden under my black sweater and khaki corduroy pants.

The colors I chose to wear today capture the very essence of where I am. I am relaunching how I position myself in the community. I'm restrategizing my marketing. In fact, I've just recently updated my website and created several new blogs. The black sweater conveys the message that there is something about me that I haven't shared with everyone. The black sweater says something about me is changing. The black sweater tells the world what I don't have to say verbally..

The world would have never known about the eye-catching valentine red I've hidden under my sweater if I wouldn't have said something. This color has a voice of its own too in my life right now. This color says that finances and security are two things that are on my mind. This makes sense because my husband and I will be closing on a new home the end of January. Not even four months ago, we relocated our family from Chicago to Charlotte, NC. It was a hard move for our children. And, now we're moving them again. Over the next few weeks, I will be the pillar of strength for my children. No matter what insecurity or worry I am experiencing inside, I need to appear secure and confident for them on the outside. The red I wear gives me the energy to be able to handle the change I will be experiencing, but also the change my children will be experiencing. The valentine red color is setting the stage for me to focus on my family's security and financial means.

As far as the khaki colored corduroys, I am also wearing. This color is a color of balance and grounding. This color emits the energy that will assist me with maintaining some grounding in my life--even through the invevitable chaos of our next move.

What color are you wearing today? And why were you drawn to wear those colors?

Light, Love and Laughter,

Melissa
www.melissaperry.net

Color and You!

Happy New Year!!!

Did you know that color and music can be used to create positive change in your life daily!!!
Color and music, like your thoughts, emotions, and actions, are made up of energy. They too can be used in your daily life as a tool to create a new you, and to open up your conscious mind.

The color you choose to wear sends a message to others about you at that moment in time. The color you choose to paint the interior walls of your house again communicates to the people who enter it who you are. We all use color to communicate to the outside world not only who we are, but also what we are experiencing emotionally.

This year I've been drawn to the color blue. Its a color that can inspire and make one more productive. Its the color of communication. In fact, I just recently purchased new bedding that is a soft sky blue with shades of cream bringing a sense of peace to the room I should be able to relax in. I also purchased blue toss pillows for my family room which adds an element of productive energy to the room now.

What color or colors are you attracted too this year?

Give someone a smile today,

Melissa
